During that time we have experienced many different kinds of wheat. We have used wheat from Texas, Utah, Montana, California, and Israel both organic and non organic. There are two kinds of wheat one can buy: chemical free and certified organic. Most wheat is chemical free in that the farmer might or might not use an herbicide to control the weeds in his fields. If he uses chemicals on the wheat, it will cause a distinct taste in the bread thus no chemicals are used on the wheat itself. Then there is certified organic: Certified organic is the same as chemical free except the wheat is grown by farmers who have not used chemicals on their land for over ten years. The difference is the certification. If a wheat is organic and you grow it in organic soil, it will have the necessary organisms in the soil to help it assimilate the minerals properly. This is my second juicer. My first was the centrifical type. The one is just soooo superior to the previous one. The unit has a solid, but not TOO heavy weight, and it does not take up a tremendous amount of counter space either. The parts are not that complicated after reading the manual and spending about 5 min. figuring it out. The parts are heavy-duty plastic -- not flimsy at all. The clean up is very fast as well, I think, compared to my old juicer.



You do have to cut some of the fruits and vegetables into chunks or slices to fit into the feeder; however, they feed very well, it only takes a few extra moments to cut them up, and the consistency is quite good, the pulp is very dry, and I only had to strain the juice with the supplied hand strainer for my daughter as I liked it just the way it comes out, myself. I made carrot bread one day with the pulp as well.



I puried a soft tomato that I normally would have had to throw out for tomato sauce in a recipe' with the blank insert that also comes with instead of the juicer insert, and I made a frozen banana blueberry desert that was very good! I found out that it will also chop up veggies for soups or salsa, and also has inserts that will extrude pasta. I'm excited to try that soon as well!

Bought this as a replacement to my Juicman juicer (now ancient).



I've been very happy with the Omega. It stays out on my counter as a permanent fixture in the kitchen now as a constant reminder to use it each day. Here are some things to keep in mind when considering this vs. other juicers:



1) Masticating juicers are not meant for casual juicers. If you are going to juice only carrots on the weekend, this is not the juicer for you. You'll spend more and be satisfied with a <$100 centrifugal juicer.



2) Cleanup is a breeze. It's actually easier than my old Juiceman.



3) Be prepared to cut things down to size. The chute is small so even carrots sometimes need te be cut up.



Overall, juicing takes about 5x longer with a masticating juicer. The benefits are: better juice, more juice, a quiet machine and the ability to juice greens.

I try to avoid as many electronic gadgets in the kitchen as possible since they are hard to clean and the motors break/wear down over time. I wanted a juicer for some time and have had friends use and recommend this one to me. It has not disappointed. We juice everything from our own tomato vegetable juice to carrot ginger juice to wheat grass. It takes some strength when juicing harder vegetables, but it is simple, strong, easy to clean and worth the price over the long haul. I also tend to think the slower hand crank juice method actually oxidizes the food less than faster electronic juicers. Like others have mentioned in their reviews, we don't use the plastic juice cup that came with the juicer - using a short glass and a bowl does the trick, instead. Overall, I am pleased with the product and would recommend to others.

This is a fine juicer for wheatgrass, though I probably wouldn't use it for most other veggies. Greens, yes, if I'm not using my Philips centrifugal juicer for other things.

It's bigger than I thought it would be. But then, I guess I hadn't read the dimensions carefully before purchase. The juicer is all built of solid materials - the plastic parts are not cheesy and should last as long as the metal parts if treated like kitchenware. The only thing that strikes me as a little funny is that juice drips from the joint between the end cap and the clear body. Not that it's a problem, as these drips are also caught by the long juice receptacle. But it's seems the kind of thing self-respecting designers would want to avoid. And it would be a simple fix: just make the end lock tolerances a little tighter.



But apart from that, it's just the cat's pyjamas. The foot clamp fits on lots of different kitchen protrusions, and the rubber protectors keep the unit from messing up your counter. Allow plenty of space around the unit for turning the crank (removable). Squeaks when turning, due to the silicone seals around the moving parts, but that just means they're doing their job.



Makes great juice fast, cleans up easy, and has no CO2 footprint. Why buy an electric unit?

I've had my juicer for 2 years now and couldn't be happier with it. I've juiced garlic, beets, carrots, apples, limes, lemons, oranges, parsley, cucumbers, pineapple, collard greens, dandelion greens, spinach, swiss chard, celery, grapes, and tons and tons of kale. It needs to be very securely fastened to a table or counter edge so that you can turn the handle easily. A tall glass works much better for catching pulp than the container it comes with. And it does take some prep work upfront to cut up your veggies. But it's fun to mash everything in there and crank it up and give that arm a workout! You need to set aside some time but for me it's a very peaceful morning exercise and the juice feels so good.

It's not that great of a juicer like I read in other reviews. I got it for traveling. When I received the unit the juicing screen and rubber o-ring that secures the juicing drill into the base was poorly glued. Bad sign, and sure enough came off and broke in less than a month. Also, the handle needs to be 100% set in place accurately or it will bend the inside of it when juicing because you really crank hard and stop working.

Depending on what you are juicing, it can be a real work out. The representative was surprised that I used it to juice carrots.??? I mean come on, wake up. List something besides wheatgrass on your website or reading material if you think it can't handle it.

It's not that portable. It stands pretty tall, has quite a few parts , a heavy metal base and you need to clamp it to something with the vise. (I guess you can say an RV is good for traveling too)



Recently I mailed it in for replacement parts or hopefully a complete replacement. This will take another 2 months to have it delivered, repaired or replaced and mailed back. Which is a huge burden if you planned to take it traveling with you....goodluck

In all, yes, in all you can take it traveling with you. I'll keep this product review updated



Here's the update.

I mailed it back to the company and they fixed or replaced all the parts.

They did a turn around within a month.

While it may not get much juice from harder produce like carrots. It does give more juice than a centrifugal (eg. a Hamilton juicer) when juicing fruits.

Based on what's available, it a good juicer.

These trays are made of cheap brittle light weight molded plastic that breaks and leaks because of tiny holes that get in them and are anything but "durable"! They also wiggle and buckle and must be used with some kind of support under them when picked up or the contents will spill out - happened to me. The price should be your heads up as to their value.

There is a huge need for moderately priced heavier weight plant trays;the Perma-nest trays are much too expensive and there seems to be nothing in between these two extremes of pricing!

Based on the word Durable, I was expecting plastic trays made of somewhat thicker plastic than these. They are ok, but they are the same lightweight black plastic planter trays that you can find at any hardware store or garden center. They'll work fine for the short haul, but I have found that others I've bought only last a year or two before developing cracks and leaking. The truly durable ones are tough to find and cost a bit more.

This is a duplicate replacement juicer for the one I have had for six years. I am replacing it because I currently hear straining noises in the motor and don't want to take a chance of the old one conking out before I have a replacement standing in the wings to take over (since I usually juice a full 40 lb case at a time).

I can't say enough great things about this product. One should remember that the motor has a full five year warranty. Most juicers you buy for around $25 are lucky if they last a year (I went through about three of 'em before finding this gem). I highly recommend!

It had been several years since I'd sprouted grass at home, so I thought a kit would be an easy way to get back into the swing of things. I'm glad I went ahead with the purchase, but not because the product is really any good. The instructions on the card were different from the method I had used in the past (and strongly contradicted at several points by the contents of the book that came with the kit, which I thought was odd) but I gave them a try for my first tray... and lost that batch. Go ahead and ignore the instruction card.



It was nice to start with everything arriving together; it helped commit me to the project, but for the long term the kit really isn't necessary.

I purchased this online and the company shipped it out very quickly. I followed the easy instruction that came with the kit and the grass just grow like crazy. I didn't buy the juicer together with the kit at the first place because I didn't have confidence that I could grow anything without any prior gardening experience. Now, I am looking for a juicer to juice my grass. Well, if you are planning to buy the kit, I recommend to purchase a juicer together because the grass grow faster than you could ever expect and long enough for juicing. Anyway, it's just grass after all and it shouldn't be hard.

Let's quantisize..

1 lb. of wheatgrass berries at health food store: $1.95

2 10x20 trays at garden shop: $3.50 or less

1 bag of organic potting mix at garden shop: $2.50 (approx)

Fertilzer? Don't need it. Vitamins for initial growing are in the berry.

Instructions: just surf the web.

I'm not even sure if I need the soil, but I compost it so nothing goes to waste.

Cheap(er) and the juice comes out great!

I have 3 trays going all the time so my wife and I can juice each day with no pause.

The packaging and instructions for growing were very good (the laminated instruction sheet is a nice touch considering you are dealing with dirt and water). We had no problems growing our first flat of wheat grass exactly as expected from this kit. There is plenty left to grow several more flats as well.
